Mr. C is 59 years old, married, and has 6 children. He never learned to read because there was no school in the area where he grew up. He and his wife both work as coolies (daily wage laborers) in the forest.
When the Village Literacy Rehabilitation Project (VLRP) literacy class began in his village, Mr. C enrolled and began attending regularly. He was surprised that even at his age he could learn how to read and write! He liked the methods for teaching literacy, and is showing a lot of progress.
Not only did he learn to read, but he was encouraged by the motivational songs and spiritual knowledge that was taught by the literacy teacher. He says he is now feeling very happy and has a lot of joy, and that he is very thankful to the teachers, founders, and sponsors of this program.
