“The villagers want to express their sincere appreciation for the life-changing support provided to their community. Our village consists of 235 households, primarily belonging to the cobbler community. For generations, we have navigated the harsh realities of social marginalization and economic hardship, which often left us without basic necessities.
For years our primary struggle was access to clean drinking water. We were forced to walk over two miles daily to secure water for our families. Our existing borewell, installed over 10 years ago, had fallen into complete disrepair. The scheduled water supply truck often arrived after we had left for daily labor away from the village, leaving us with empty pots and a constant sense of anxiety. This shortage took a heavy toll on our health, particularly affecting our women and children.
Our path to change began through our long-standing relationship with a Non-Government-Organization (NGO). For the past two years the NGO has been active in our village conducting literacy and empowerment programs and establishing three women’s self-help groups. These groups have empowered our women with bank loans for livestock, small businesses, and home repairs. Through GTi HOPE, their local partner, and the NGO, a new borewell was drilled in July 2025. The borewell was drilled to a depth of 250 ft, with a strong supply of fresh water found at 110 feet.
We no longer spend our mornings in a desperate search for water. Whether we return from work early or late, we have a reliable source for cooking, bathing, and drinking. The village government has taken over the long-term maintenance of the borewell, ensuring that any future repairs are handled promptly.
We are profoundly grateful for this gift of clean water. You have provided us with dignity, health, and more time to focus on our livelihoods.
With sincere thanks, the residents of K village.”
